In the desert, your AC runs harder and longer than almost anywhere in the country. Regular preventative maintenance keeps it safe and efficient, protects the equipment you already paid for, and helps you avoid the expensive breakdown on the hottest day of the year. Many Las Vegas homeowners run their systems without a plan and pay far more in the long run.
Just like a car, your air conditioner needs a tune-up from time to time to keep it out of the shop. A twice-a-year inspection is the simplest way to keep your system running at its best, season after season. The Cooling Company can also perform a one-time emergency AC tune-up to prepare you for the intense summer weather.

What a Full Tune-Up Covers
A Cooling Company tune-up is a thorough inspection, not a quick look. On each visit our technicians:
- Visually inspect the condenser for oil deposits, debris, and more, and apply pressure gauges to check operating pressures.
- Draw readings of the capacitor and start components.
- Take readings on refrigerant levels and visually inspect for leaks. Note whether the refrigerant is R-22 or R-410A.
- Inspect thermostat function and wiring, and confirm thermostat accuracy.
- Inspect ducting and ventilation. Change 1-inch filters or specialty filters where applicable.
- Check return and supply air temperatures.
- Read the defrost cycle and supplemental heating and confirm factory specifications.
- Check superheat.
- Inspect air entering the outdoor coil.
- Visually inspect the indoor coil for debris, with a light rinse if a water source is available nearby.
- Visually inspect the condenser coil for debris, with a light rinse if a water source is available nearby.
- Check blower motor function and belt tension.
- Inspect the outdoor fan motor, confirm the fan blade is tight, and lubricate as needed.
- Collect amperage and voltage from the blower and condenser fan motors and confirm factory specifications.
- Inspect condensation pump function.
- Inspect the contactor connection and electrical components.
- Check suction line temperature and pressures.
- Inspect service valves.
- Follow wiring and electrical connections and confirm proper placement.
- Inspect the disconnect box, confirm correct wire size, and tighten connections.
- Inspect the metering device.

What Regular Maintenance Prevents
The most common air conditioner problems Las Vegas and Henderson homeowners face are exactly the ones a tune-up catches early:
- Issues with the condenser, coil, or fan
- Low refrigerant, usually from a leak
- Broken or faulty thermostats
- A condenser capacitor worn down by debris and lack of maintenance
- Wiring problems
- Strain caused by not changing the air filters in your home
Small issues like a dirty filter or a cracked belt put strain on the system and, left unchecked, turn into serious and expensive repairs. Catching them during a scheduled visit is how members avoid a breakdown over a holiday weekend. If you do have an emergency, our 24-hour air conditioning repair service is here.
